Housing for RSOs Being Released from Institutions

Inmates being released from institutions (prisons, mental health facilities, etc) have been given a release plan that has been worked out with their counselors. Part of the release plan includes where the inmate will be living when they are released, during their parole.

Registered Sex Offenders that will be released from an institution as homeless or RSOs that are on parole that become homeless after they are released from the institution will have to check in regularly with their CCO. The level of restriction and frequency of the visits will vary according to their RSO level (1-3).

There are no shelters that take RSOs in Cowlitz County.

Transferring RSOs to another County

If a RSO that is on parole would like to transfer to another county or state they will have to work with their CCO to accomplish this.

Once a person that is labeled RSO is released they may look for new housing, based on their income level and the policies of the landowner/landlord. If you are a family member of a person with this classification you can help by calling available rentals to see if your family member would qualify to live in their structure.

Note from Living Ministries:
The best thing you can do for your family member is to be as supportive as you can. The road in front of a RSO is a hard one. Many employers cannot or wont hire RSOs, especially if they have little to no training. This is the first and probably most difficult issue your family member is facing. Prayer is always available if you Contact Us.
