Welcome to Canz 4 Toyz
Canz 4 Toyz is now an Affiliated Ministry of Living Ministries. We believe their love for people in Cowlitz County makes them a great partner. They have a strong history of helping bring Christmas to children who’s families are in need and also have a great following. We are glad to be working with them to help provide a few organizational elements that will make them stronger.

Exclaim Media Video & Marketing has been contracted for a new website, Facebook page, Twitter account, Business Cards and Name Badges. They have given us over 80% discounts all costs to help support Canz 4 Toyz. Living Ministries will pay the invoice for these services and suspend our $40 monthly stipend to Canz 4 Toyz from May to October 2014 to replace the funds used from our savings account.

We have established a savings account in the name of Canz 4 Toyz as a sub account to Living Ministries account at Fibre Federal Credit Union so we have a place to put funds we collect online and in other fundraising endeavors until December and then we will give them the money we have collected.

Karen has not stopped collecting cans and taking them to Waste Control for Canz 4 Toyz since Christmas JOY Telethon 2013. We will continue to schedule pick ups on Saturdays, while Canz 4 Toyz handles them on Sundays.

We are very excited about the energy they will add to Living Ministries.

Project Homeless Connect
As far as we know the count from PHC 2014 is not available yet.

It was the consensus of Summer, Karen, Lynn, Debra and Linda, who all volunteered at PHC 2014 that this one was not as successful as 2013. We felt that the venue was intimidating to those seeking services. Linda felt that the large number of men wearing security t-shirts added to a feeling of vulnerability. Debra felt that her time was not well-spent with the animals; there were not enough people needing her services to warrant taking her away from her responsibilities at Angel Wings Rescue for an entire day. There seemed to be more volunteers than guests. Communication was well-meaning but insufficient.

We do know that Project Homeless Connect 2015 will be at another venue.

Home At Last 2014: A Lil’ Bit O Paradise Charity Care Fundraiser
Living Ministries has purchased a table at this Community Home Health & Hospice Fundraiser. We are very excited to be going. All Living Ministries committee members will attend. Jacob is not old enough to go, representing Canz 4 Toyz and is sister has a t-ball game so we have 2 spots available at our table.

We are offering these spots to people that have blessed Living Ministries…but people are busy. We may turn them back over to Hospice so they can sell two more tickets.

The event is Friday May 2nd at The Expo Center from 5:30 to 10 pm. Includes dinner. Individuals are encouraged to support other fundraising festivities at this event.

Revival
The Project 90K Revival has been cancelled. So Living Ministries will not take part in this event.

Random Note: Jacob is addicted to Nutella.

Black Bears Game Passes
It is that time of year again…and Living Ministries is excited to be talking about Cowlitz Black Bears. This year we think Jacob should throw the opening pitch.

We are offering to pre-order game passes this year. Game passes offer admission for 4 and are good for any game all season. They cost $20.

Our cost is $10 per game pass and we must buy at least 25. Summer would like us to try to sell 40 so that all 4 ministries will be blessed with $100.

Jacob is excited to throw the first pitch and we will look for a Friday or Saturday date for our featured non profit night.

Go Fourth Festival
Karen would really like us to go to Go Fourth Festival this year. It will be a great way to advertise our Affiliated Ministries. Summer is sure that Hearts For Homeless will be excited to be there, although there was no one representing HFH at our meeting.

Linda made a motion that we go. Debra seconded the motion and it was agreed we will begin to prepare.

Summer asked Linda to shop for a small generator. Summer has already contacted Go Fourth Festival Committee for details, costs and insurance questions and is waiting to hear back.

Beard Contest
Karen would like us to facilitate a community event that has a Beard Contest as part of the event. Everyone thought it was a great idea. Linda suggested that we join Highlander Festival in September as a vendor and give away water while we have the contest.

Summer will contact Highlander Festival Committee for details and report back.

Ladies Spring Tea
It has been decided that we will no longer facilitate the Ladies Spring Tea.

Costco
Karen decided that Living Ministries should have a Costco Business Account. We now have one. Any committee member or Affiliated Ministry is welcome to join us at Costco and reimburse us for items purchased when either Summer or Karen are going.

Financials
Summer gave a detailed report for the last 4 months.

Due to regular monthly donations Living Ministries is able to seed $40 into each Affiliated Ministry each month. As we have more monthly donors we will be able to increase either seed money into the Affiliates or extend our services to additional Affiliates.

Summer did mention that at this time we don’t have enough hands on help to offer Affiliate status to additional ministries.

Angel Wings Rescue Report by Debra Lawson-Bean
Angel Wings has moved from Kelso to Cathlamet. 1/3 of the cats and Moses are staying there with Debra while construction commences to make the property ready for the rest of the animals who are being cared for at the old Kelso site by Debra’s husband, Glenn Bean.

Debra is planning a community fundraising event for August 2, 2014. She is planning for local artists, music and vendors. She would like Living Ministries and the other Affiliate Ministries to have a place there to showcase their ministries. The event will be from 11 am to 5 pm.

Angel Wings Rescue has not had any donations for several months. Debra has been covering everything on her own. Volunteers and donations are welcome.

Hearts For Homeless
No representation.
