Summer is taking notes in Jamie’s place.

The meeting was called to order by President, Karen Gidderon at 6:21 pm.

Christmas Joy Telethon

We are still looking for sponsors. At this time we do not have any dollar sponsors for the event..

We are collecting cans for Canz4Toyz. They pick up cans on Sundays so Living Ministries will make pickups on Saturdays. All donations will be taken directly to Waste Control in Longview. Funds collected will be given to the Jacob Beerman’s Canz4Toyz account at Waste Control.

Summer asked that we think about small, inexpensive things to do at the telethon if people get bored with the bands. Lynn suggested that we try to get some art supplies like project sticks, pipe cleaners, glue and glitter donated from The Dollar Store. We are going to ask Linda if she will handle this. We will talk more about this at the next CJT Planning Meeting.

Next CJT Planning Meeting is Monday December 2, 2013. We will meet at The Electric Bean at 4:30 pm.

Christmas Parade

Rightway RV is allowing us to use a trailer as their sponsorship.

We will have a work party on Thursday December 5, 2013 at 3 pm at Linda’s house.

Lynn will call Arlene Hubble to make sure we can have a spot in the parade.

Lynn’s husband, KC doesn’t have a generator. Karen will ask Pat Palmer of Copies Today if we can borrow his.

Summer suggested that this is a purchase we should start planning for since we have several events that a generator would be helpful at.

Christmas Ornament Fundraiser

Summer’s friend Bonnie, who used to live in Longview, contacted her with an idea to sell Christmas Ornaments designed and donated by artists for $10 each as a fundraiser for Christmas Joy Telethon. Knotty Wares has already made some to donate.

It was decided that it was too late to implement this project this year, but we can do it next year. Summer said that she will just have it be on KnottyWares.com and on ChristmasJoyTelethon.com that ornaments are for sale by KW. She is considering starting a new line of ornaments as she is inspired.

Christmas Joy Telethon Marketing

Please make sure to have liked the Christmas Joy Telethon Facebook Fan Page and regularly share something on the wall and encourage your followers to like the page and follow us.

The Bag Party

The Bag Party is Saturday January 4, 2014. We do not have a venue since The Victory Center is no longer where it was.

We would like to have at least $400 in sponsorship money to cover printing costs and be able to give $50 to each band for gas money.

We are praying about a venue. Summer and Lynn agree that we would prefer to not be in a church building. Lynn suggested that maybe the owners of the building where Fashion Bug is would be a great venue.

The only thing holding up finalizing the flyers is a venue. Summer would like to be done with marketing before Christmas Joy Telethon.

Summer will contact Music and More Productions to see if they will donate a sound system and DJ for the event.

Lynn also suggested that The Victory Center may allow us to use theirs.

December Living Ministries’ Power Meeting

We are changing the date and time of our December meeting. We decided that we would casually meet at ZoJo Coffee at 11 am on Saturday December 21, 2013 to have coffee, say hi and distribute flyers for The Bag Party. This meeting will have no agenda and be more social than anything else.

Angel Wings Rescue – Debra Lawson-Bean Executive Director

Debra is not here to report on Angel Wings Rescue. Summer reminded us that the kittens are using a lot of kitten formula. Please continue to tell people about needed donations.

Hearts For Homeless – Lynn Brown Executive Director

Lynn told us about her friend Stormy who is facilitating a drive for Hearts For Homeless. Lynn will let us know when the meeting is so we can help.

New sleeping bags and gloves were bought with some of the money from the Survival Drive.

Possible new volunteers have been contacting Hearts For Homeless. Hooray!

Financials

We now have a regular donor to Living Ministries. It looks as though Gary C. is tithing to us because different amounts come in every week. This has given Living Ministries freedom to sow some money into Angel Wings Rescue and Hearts For Homeless in addition to fundraisers and drives.

This month we put $40 in AWR’s savings account to save for the new cover to the outdoor cat area at Angel Wings Rescue. We will continue to do this until we have enough to pay for it. Also $40 in building supplies were purchased for Hearts For Homeless. We will continue to do this until we have enough dowels for all the hanging areas in HFH’s storage shed. We will continue to tackle small repairs as we continue to get donations so AWR and HFH can focus their personal finances on their ministries. As regular donation amounts to Living Ministries grows, we will continue to give more.

Currently we have over $600 in our dedicated savings for a new books computer and to begin the process of becoming 501(c)3. We are watching for Black Friday specials for a laptop to dedicate to Living Ministries. Summer feels we should hire someone to set up our tax status, in order to do it correctly so we will have an easier time growing into God’s plan for us.

We are also thinking about ways to purchase annual insurance for Living Ministries. We believe we will need $5 million coverage to protect all volunteers and committee members for Living Ministries, Angel Wings Rescue and Hearts For Homeless. Summer thinks that when the business structure is sound we will be able to make better decisions about insurance.

Two months ago God told Summer that she must allot a stipend of 10% of Living Ministries’ income to help pay for some of her necessities, like the cell phone she answers for Living Ministries, internet, etc. Also Karen will be turning in gas milage information each month to help pay for gas since she does most of the pickups and face to face marketing for our ministries. We allowed for a full tank of gas for Karen’s car to cover her milage (that wasn’t tallied) from March through October. Summer will receive her stipend check from October later this week.

Mindy Schlecht, our favorite teller (besides Summer’s sister) at Fibre Federal Credit Union set up donation accounts for Living Ministries, Angel Wings Rescue and Hearts For Homeless. They were already prepared, but she made sure they were set up so that when people are doing their banking they can just say the name of the ministry and donate directly at the bank. Donations are accepted at any branch of Fibre Federal Credit Union, where Living Ministries and their Affiliate Ministries holds accounts. Thank you Mindy!

Other Information

Resignation requests have been accepted from John Hanna and Dale Chamberlain.

Summer is so excited to see the vision God gave her coming closer every day! Thank you Jesus! We will continue to pray for team members that have time to devote to our ministries, especially those with specific talents that we are not strong in.

Ministry Time

  • Karen had oral surgery last week. She is healing quickly and her new teeth are becoming more useful to her. She is still seeking employment.
