To: All interested parties
From: Living Ministries Power Group
Subject: Power Group Meeting
Date: June 20, 2011
Location: The Electric Bean 946 Washington Way

The meeting was called to order by President Summer Clemenson at 7:15pm.  Living Ministries and Attic Ministries will be manning a booth at the Go 4th Celebration. More details will be given at the end of the week.

Living Ministries is selling tickets for the Cowlitz Black Bears Baseball team.  Tickets are available by calling Summer at 360 431 1442 or Karen at 360 442 8630.  Tickets are $7.00 and can be used at any Cowlitz Black Bears game.

We would like to do a benefit concert or a fund-raiser to help raise money for Community House. Discussion ensued about the possibilities. Perhaps we can plan an exciting event to take place in the next six months.

Some ideas were:

  • Finding carpenters & contractors who might donate their time for tax deductible work (maybe contacting Love, Inc.)
  • Street Dance in late August.
  • Getting a booth to increase awareness at The Unique Tin Car Show.
  • Creating a booth to offer gift wrap services at the mall in November to December.

Living Ministries will donate printing costs for business cards to Washington CURE. CURE is a non-profit organization that helps the families of those that are incarcerated.

There is a need for pet food for those that are homeless. We will do some research to see if there are any resources available.  Perhaps area churches would like to include some pet food items at their food banks. Not only FISH but Northlake Baptist Church has a food bank.

New Committee Member: Elizabeth Evans was presented to the group by President Summer Clemenson and voted in by a unanimous vote of all committee members present.

It was mentioned that we should research Dignity Village in Portland. It is a homeless camp that was formed by the city when the people would not leave.

The meeting was adjourned by President Summer Clemenson at 8:15pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Karen Gidderon
Vice President, Living Ministries

Note:
We found out that Humane Society was not doing a pet food drive at Bark for Life on July 16, 2011. Rick felt that Humane Society had enough resources to take care of the people that ask for help from them, but suggested we call CAP Meals on Wheels.

Living Ministries shared a booth with Attic Ministries at Go Fourth and collected food for Angel Wings Ministry Animal Shelter. We will also have a booth at Bark for Life and will accept smaller bags of dog, cat and bird food to go to CAP Meals on Wheels. We were told that when meals are brought to people that sometimes owners feed their hungry pets with it. We want to help fix that.
