From: Living Ministries

Date: Wednesday March 20th, 2013

Location: Life Works 906 New York Street, Longview Washington 98632

Attendance: Tom Stebbins, Summer Clemenson, Linda Haarstad, Karen Gidderon, Debra Lawson-Bean and Jamie Holloway

The meeting was called to order at 6:08 PM by Summer Clemenson.

There was $11 dollars collected in happy bucks.

Living Ministries has a new phone number 360-610-7778. Summer can forward it to anyone who is interested in answering the phone. Debra Lawson-Bean and Jamie Holloway showed interested in being available. Summer is working on a manual for answering the phone and all the information that will be needed.

The contract for the database is in the mail for review. Summer has been working on a printable version for the entire database. Right now you can post it to any of your social networks and you can print one page at a time. Soon we will be needing to start making phone calls to the 140 organizations in the database and confirm information and get contact information so that it is current and meets the contract.

Summer has asked us all to keep track of the minutes that we do work for Living Ministries so that when we write a grant proposal up we will be able to show our work and volunteerism.

Summer brought up SOAR training and if there is anyone interested in doing the training. Debra-Lawson-Bean, Karen Gidderon, Summer Clemenson, and Jamie Holloway have all showed interest in the training. The cost will be $40 per person and each person is responsible for paying for themselves. The training will help us connect people get to the different resources that are out there for them. It is a two day course and will benefit the community and Living Ministries.

We all discussed having a new mission statement. Our old mission statement did not state clearly what Living Ministries does and was as follows: Unifying the Community to Administer Hope.

The new statement is: Building Relationships and Meeting Needs in Our Community.

Karen asked each of us to invite 2 people to our meetings in order to bring in new members to make Living Ministries stronger and able to help more people.

Summer and Karen asked what direction Living Ministries should go: Linda Harstaad and Debra Lawson-Bean believe we should keep things flexible. The weakness of the group is communication. The strengths are flexibility and unity.

Linda is working on the menu for the Tea coming up on April 21st. Summer handed out fliers to be distributed out in the public to advertise our tea so we can sell tickets. Summer is able to take payments on her phone and on our website at livingministries.org, but would rather have cash or a check for the tickets.

We also need to ask people to tell us if there are any allergies so that we can accommodate them.

The menu will consist of a 4 course tea: a soup course, sorbet, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit, and dessert. Assignments of who is making what was made tonight and more details will be discussed at the next meeting on April 17th.

Tom Stebbins and Debra Lawson-Bean discussed having a potluck dinner for Living Ministries more often, possible after our meetings.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jamie Holloway
Living Ministries Secretary
